It often causes some disturbance to many passengers or ourselves when we walk over or near to it.   1. Uneven size and height of pavers

We often find uneven pavers at public places which is not so comfortable to walk by. However, the reason behind this problem in the base itself. The base may not be filled properly or the mixer had an uneven thickness. If the site has clay soil, then it will hold a lot of water than soil.

The existence of more water in the soil will make way to displace the original position of pavers. During the winter time when the ground freeze, the soil will expand more and push the paver up. However, when the soil comes back to normal position, The pavers may stay at the same high since they cannot move down without a good amount of force from the other side.

Solution: Unfortunately, we cannot fix it easily. Hence, we will have to redo the paver installation by clearing the stone dust under the paver.

  1. Stone Dust issue causing uneven Paver Height

It often observes that most paver production unit use stone dust for the base preparation as a setting bed. Stone dust is a screening by-product that used for having some gravel pits. However, the main problem with stone dust is that it breaks into fine dust form when its installed under the paver. This dust holds a lot of water and can form a clay soil when it freezes.

Solution: The ideal way to make composite to have even compaction is by using ¾ processed gravel that has various size particles. However, there is no way to repair the existing uneven paver other than starting over the whole process.

  1. The Paver and Fixed edges are slowing disappears

You would have noticed that many pavers don’t have the correct edge and those are on the edge of breaking since no setting bed is available under the pavers.

Solution: A filter fabric usage under the base and bringing up the sides of project excavator will prevent this issue. Unlike the uneven paver heights, this issue can be fixed by the particular area without completely starting over. Filter fabric can be fixed for each paver and new base can be added for paver reinstallment.

  1. Paver Land is Settled

The main reason for a settled paver land is lack of compaction. This phenomena is often seen on a nearby site where house or pools are constructed. The backfilled soil are mostly not contacted when they filled. It is common that the ground under the paver dug up and not filled properly.

Solution: We are do following for fixing this issue.

  • Pull up the paver
  • Add more gravel base
  • Make sure that it compacted in intervals
  • When the base is properly filled, level with bedding sand
  • Now reinstall the paver.

  1. The edge pavers are about to fall off

The main reason for this issues is that no edge restraints are installed to keep the pattern together.

Solution: There are 2 type of edge restraints are available in the market for paver installation. The most used type in indian land is PVC edging restraints that used during paver installation. It spiked into the base of the gravel where paver is installed. For fixing this settled issue, paver need to take out, more sand and base need to be filled with proper compaction and at the end an edge restraint need to be installed in order to rectify paver settle issue.

  1. Water is puddling on the paver.

There could be 2 reason for this issue.

  • The base may not be built at a proper pitch and may have build at a slightly low spot.
  • The base was not compacted well and the land settled over the time.

Solution: The only way to fix this issue is to pull up the paver area that settled and add more base and grave to compact the land before reinstalling the pavers.

  1. Uneven pavers and tipping.

The reason for this issue is that pavers are not installed with joint sand and that resulted into a setting bed.

Solution: When pavers are completely laid, the concrete sand or polymeric sand is poured into all joints. Next to that vibratory plate compactor should run over the pavers. More sand is required to top off the joints and project is compacted 2 or 3 times.

Rubber moulds and PVC moulds are widely used all over. The physical and chemical properties are quite different from each other but rubber and PVC alone possess its own characteristics.

Different types of moulding process are casting, injection moulding, blow moulding, compression moulding, rotational moulding.

Rubber exhibits its own unique features and physical properties. Mullins effect and Payne effect are the stress-strain behaviour exhibited by rubbers. It is often moulded as hyperelastic. Rubber block suppliers comment rubber strain crystalize. Natural rubber is pliant to vulcanisation and delicate to ozone cracking due to the presence of a double bond in each repeat unit.  Turpentine and naphtha (petroleum) are the two main solvents for rubber block manufacturers in Indonesia. The rubber material is finely divided by shredding prior to its immersion, it does not dissolve easily. Expansion and contraction property of rubber make it stand out from other materials.

The moulding process of rubber is like pressing a block of rubber into a rubber molding metal cavity. By activating a channel reaction the rubber is then exposed to heat. Usually, allrubber block suppliers use heat and pressure method to form molded rubber products. Compression molding, injection molding, and transfer molding are the three rubber moulding process.

  • Compression moulding is done by inserting a sheet inside the mould. It is the simplest moulding method. The rubber is forced to take on the shape of the mould by pressing the two halves of the rubber into the sheet. It is the crudest and oldest form of rubber moulding. In the final stage, it often produces rubber pieces with errors in the final shape. The advantages of compression moulding are:
  1. Best for small production
  2. Good for big parts
  3. Low costing tool
  4. The material doesn’t have to pass through gates, runners or sprues.
  • Injection moulding is heated until it has a toothpaste-like consistency. It is the most precise way to shape rubber. Injecting into a mould the rubber is allowed to harden. PVC is one among the category of thermosetting plastics which can be softened by heating. PVC is the material which is long-term resistant to degradation and oxidation. In Europe, PVC is usually used for flooring, artificial leather, and decorative sheets. It is a natural resource derived from 57% chlorine and 43% carbon. This is an excellent resistant to fire, splintering, decaying, and insect infestation. Because of its cheap rate they are often used for drip edges, kick-boards, table boards. PVC is used for interior as well as exterior applications.

Properties of PVC

    1. Mechanical property

PVC cover blocks possess high hardness. Its mechanical properties upgrade with the increasing molecular weight but it gets decreased with increase in temperature. Rigid PVC possess very good mechanical properties, 1500-3000 MPa is the range of elastic modulus and elastic strength of soft PVC is 1.5-15 MPa.

2. Thermal and fire properties

Since its heat stability ios very low it needs a heat stabilizer during the process to ensure the product’s properties. When the temperature reaches 140 °C PVC starts to decompose with melting temperature starting around 160 °C. It has good flame retardancy. The LOI(linear oxygen index) is minimum(up to 45 or more).

3. Electrical properties

The electrical insulating property is subordinate to non-polar polymers like polyethylene and polypropylene because of its higher polar nature. It is a polymer with good insulation properties. It has high dielectric loss tangent value, dielectric constant, and volume resistivity but poor corona resistance. Generally, it is packed for low frequency insulation materials and medium or low voltage.

4. Chemical properties

PVC is used in sewerage piping as it is resistant to salts, acids, fats, bases, alcohols. uPVC and plastified PVC are less resistant to solvents. Some are resistant to fuel and paint thinners. May some solvents expand it or distort it but not liquefy PVC. Whereas some may damage it like acetone or tetrahydrofuran.

1. Suspension Polymerization

2. Emulsion Polymerization

3. Bulk Polymerization

As the final product is 100% solid resin it is a very environmental friendly polymerization which does not require any purification method. Because of the lower heat of polymerization and reactivity, this is much more suited for step-growth polymers. Depending on the solubility of the growing polymer chains in the monomer they can proceed either homogeneous or homogeneous.

In the late 1800’s plastic moulding began to fill the need for plastic billiard balls. John Wesley Hyatt in 1868 invented a way to make billiard balls by injecting celluloid into a mould. To automate the process four years later Hyatt and his brother invented and patented the machine.
