Uses of polypropylene in different industries
The major end users of polypropylene are the packaging industry, electrical and equipment manufacturing, household appliances, automotive industries and construction materials. Relative to other common plastics polypropylene has a low density ranging between 0.895 and 0.92 g/cm which translates to weight savings for manufacturers and distributors of injection moulded polypropylene parts. It has extraordinary resistance at room temperature to organic solvents. Polypropylene can be easily copolymerized (essentially combined into a composite plastic) with other polymers like polyethene. Copolymerization changes the material properties remarkably, allowing for more robust engineering applications that are possible with pure polypropylene. 1.Chemical Resistance: It is a good choice for containers of such liquids, such as cleaning agents, first-aid products since diluted bases and acids don’t react readily with polypropylene.
2.Elasticity and Toughness: Polypropylene will act with elasticity over a certain range of diversion, but it will also experience plastic distortion early on in the diversion process, so it is generally reviewed as a “tough” material. Toughness is defined as a material’s capacity to deform without breaking.
3. Fatigue Resistance: Even after a long torsion, bending and flexing polypropylene retains its shape. This property is especially beneficial for making living hinges.
4.Insulation: It is very useful for electronic components since polypropylene has a very high resistance to electricity
5.Transmissivity: Polypropylene is normally produced to be naturally opaque in colour although it can be made transparent. If a transfer of light is important and is of aesthetic value polypropylene can be used for these applications. Polycarbonate is better choices if high transmissivity is desired.
The Different Types of Polypropylene :

5. The flexural strength is kept at 41 MPa
6. Have specific gravity of 0.91
7. Shrink rate is 1.5 to 2.0%
